In 1993, Tom joined FOX’s groundbreaking crime-fighting series America’s Most Wanted, initially producing fugitive investigations before transitioning into on-air reporting. He would go on to become the show’s Senior Correspondent and one of its most recognizable faces alongside host John Walsh during the program’s historic 25-year run. Over nearly two decades on camera, Tom worked on hundreds of major criminal investigations and headline-making cases, including the abduction of Elizabeth Smart, the Oklahoma City bombing, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the disappearance of Chandra Levy, and the rescue of the three abducted Cleveland women held captive for years.

A Washington D.C. Special Police Officer, Tom also received extensive training in firearms, anti-terrorism, counterespionage, and public safety. During later assignments with Diplomatic Security, he worked high-profile protective details for global dignitaries, visiting celebrities, and Secretary of State John Kerry, eventually serving within the agency’s Special Operations Unit.

Tom is currently widely known to television audiences as the longtime on-air crime analyst and co-host of A&E’s hit series Live P.D., where he became a fan favorite and helped shape the show into one of cable television’s highest-rated programs. Passionate about using television to assist real-world investigations, Tom also pushed to incorporate fugitive and missing-persons segments into the series, helping to contribute to the recovery of missing children and the capture of wanted fugitives through viewer tips.

He was also the host of A&E’s fugitive investigation series Wanted and currently narrates Fugitives Caught on Tape, an action-packed A&E series featuring real footage of high-stakes police pursuits captured on body cams, dash cams, and surveillance footage.

In addition to his television work, Tom has appeared across major national networks and platforms, including CNN, Discovery ID, Oxygen, podcasts, streaming productions, and live investigative specials. His work continues to focus on helping audiences understand not only what happened but also the warning signs, decision-making, and situational awareness behind the story.

Tom is a 1985 graduate of Norfolk State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications. Beyond television, he is also an award-winning poet, musician, DJ, self-defense and firearms expert, and a commissioned Washington D.C. Special Police Officer.
